KPERS
RETIREMENT PROVISIONS
To help you prepare for the future, Four County Mental Health Center participates in KPERS, the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System. This is a pension plan, not a defined contribution plan.
Regular full-time and part-time employees working more than 1,000 hours per year are required to participate in the program. Members will contribute 6% of their earnings. Vestment with KPERS occurs after 5 years in the program. Members leaving before their vesting period are entitled to a full refund of all employee contributions and any interest accrued to the account. KPERS also administers disability and life insurance provisions, as detailed within this benefits document.
As a pension plan, agency contributions are applied to the KPERS pension system rather than an individual’s account.
Additionally, Four County makes a 457 tax-advantaged investment opportunity available to all employees regardless of employment status. This is entirely voluntary, and the agency will financially participate in the program. Employee contributions are matched dollar per dollar up to the maximum of 3%. Please contact Human Resources for full details of this benefit.
